In addition to a positive attitude and a dedication to learning, you will need a few things to start training:
Clothing
New students should wear loose-fitting athletic clothing, such as sweat pants with a t-shirt or
sweat shirt. For safety reasons, it is important to remove all jewelry and watches prior to the start of class.
If you decide to continue training with us, we will get you a uniform (do bohk) and beginner's white belt
as part of registration process. You could also choose a
trial program that
includes a uniform.
Shoes
Most classes are conducted in bare feet, but it is a good
idea to bring comfortable athletic shoes for classes that focus on "street"
conditions. Please note that unless otherwise instructed, shoes are to be removed prior to entering the dojang (training room.) This protocol is a sign of respect for the
training area and helps keep it clean.
Other Equipment
More advanced students need to bring protective equipment, training weapons, and other special gear. Your
instructors will help you obtain this equipment at the appropriate time.
Students with Prior Experience
If you have trained in Tang Soo Do or another martial art, please
contact the head instructor to determine whether wearing your previous rank or uniform is appropriate.
